Beyond Code Academy is thrilled to announce the launch of our "Beyond VEX IQ Mentorship Scholarship Program"! 🎉 This incredible program is designed to empower and prepare young minds for the prestigious VEX national and international competitions (VEX Worlds, VEX VIQRC Rapid Relay Tournament, Battle in Bangkok VIQRC Robotics Signature Event, VIQRC Rapid Relay Thailand National Tournament,VIQRC Rapid Relay Thailand National Championship) . Beyond Code Academy will provide scholarship of 10,000 THB per student to enroll in Beyond VEX IQ Mentorship Program and represent Beyond Code Academy at VEX Robotics Competition🌟

As part of our commitment to fostering young talent, Beyond Code Academy is providing a scholarship of 10,000 THB per student to enroll in the "Beyond VEX IQ Mentorship Program." and represents Beyond Code Academy at VEX national and international competitions.



Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship Mentorship Program

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must meet the following requirements:

Age Requirement:

  • Students must be born after May 1st, 2009 (15 or younger at VEX Worlds 2025).

  • Student must be at least 9 years old


Trial Session:

  • All students must attend the mandatory trial session.

Criteria for Beyond Code Academy Students: Students who are currently enrolled or have studied at Beyond Code Academy must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Completed VEX EP3 Course at Beyond Code Academy.

  • Continuously studied any Syntax-Based coding course at Beyond Code Academy for more than 24 months without any breaks or pauses in enrollment and currently enrolled or planning to enroll and complete VEX Course at Beyond Code Academy

  • Past finalists of the Beyond Roblox Competition or Beyond Scratch Competition.

  • Previous participants in the VEX World Competition.

  • Placed in the top 10% of any internationally recognized Math, Coding, Robotics, or Science competition, such as VEX National, SEAMO, Australian Mathematical Olympiad, or Kangaroo Math Competition.

Criteria for Non-Beyond Code Academy Students: Students who are not currently enrolled or have not studied at Beyond Code Academy must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Have at least 24 months of experience in robotics-related coding, such as Lego Mindstorm and currently enrolled or planning to enroll in VEX Course at Beyond Code Academy

  • Have participated in a national or international Robotics competition in the past.

In addition, Non-Beyond Code Academy students must also meet one of the following criteria:

  • Past finalists of the Beyond Roblox Competition or Beyond Scratch Competition.

  • Previous participants in the VEX World Competition.

  • Placed in the top 10% of any internationally recognized Math, Coding, Robotics, or Science competition, such as VEX National, SEAMO, Australian Mathematical Olympiad, or Kangaroo Math Competition.

Please note that meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee acceptance into the mentorship program


Selection Criteria (Trial)

Duration: 1.5 hours

Building Skills 🛠️

  • Proficiency in constructing robust and efficient robot designs

  • Ability to select appropriate materials and components for the robot

  • Understanding of mechanical principles and their application in robotics

  • Skill in assembling and disassembling robot parts effectively

Control Skills 🎮

  • Expertise in controlling robots using various methods (e.g., remote control, autonomous)

  • Knowledge of control systems, sensors, and actuators

  • Ability to develop and implement effective control strategies for different tasks and challenges

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and optimizing robot performance

VEX-related Coding (Syntax or Block-based) 💻

  • Experience in programming robots using VEX Coding Studio or other compatible software

  • Understanding of syntax-based programming languages (e.g., C++, Python) or block-based coding interfaces

  • Ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code

  • Skill in debugging and optimizing code for improved robot performance

Engineering Notebook 📝

  • Ability to document the design, construction, and testing process of the robot

  • Clarity and organization in recording ideas, sketches, and technical details

  • Inclusion of relevant data, calculations, and analysis in the notebook



Problem-Solving Skills 🧩

  • Ability to analyze complex challenges and develop effective solutions

  • Creativity and innovation in approaching robotics problems

  • Skill in breaking down tasks into smaller, manageable components

  • Adaptability and resilience in the face of setbacks or failures

Presentation Skills 🎤

  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and concepts related to the robot and its design

  • Clarity and confidence in presenting the robot's features, capabilities, and performance

  • Proficiency in answering questions and providing technical explanations to judges and audience members


📅 Timeline for the "Beyond VEX IQ Mentorship Scholarship Program"

  • Now - 16th June: Application and trial session phase

  • 17th June: Announcement of selected scholars and registration for VEX National Competition

  • August 2024 - January 2025 or May 2025 (if students are selected to VEX Robotics World Championship)

    • Intensive preparation through mentorship, training, and practice sessions


🕰️ Time & 📍 Location

  • 1.5+ hours/week until competition is completed

  • Scheduling: Weekends or weekdays after school, based on availability of team members and mentors

  • Locations: Samyan or Thong Lor


Fees:

37,000 THB tuition fee for the preparation programs for local round and VEX Robotics World Championship after the 10,000 THB scholarship is applied (original fees is 47,000 THB)

*Competition registration fees, transportation, and accommodation are not included in the tuition and are the responsibility of the participant.


Make-up Policy

There will be no make-up class for any absences. Mentors may provide additional materials and guidance if a student misses a class to ensure the student is prepared for the competition.


Refund Policy:

Refunds will only be issued in the following circumstances:

Serious medical condition: If a participant is unable to take part in the competition due to a serious medical issue, a partial refund will be provided. Medical Certificate must be provided.

Unforeseen circumstances:

a. Competition cancellation: In the event that the competition is cancelled, partial refunds will be offered to all participants.

b. Changes in competition rules: If there are changes to the competition rules that prevent a team from participating, a partial refund will be granted.


Please note that refunds will not be given for any other reasons beyond those listed above.

We prioritize your child's best interests. They will have the opportunity to take part in various prestigious events, including:

- VEX VIQRC Rapid Relay Tournament

- Battle in Bangkok VIQRC Robotics Signature Event

- VIQRC Rapid Relay Thailand National Tournament

- VIQRC Rapid Relay Thailand National Championship


2. If my child doesn't receive a scholarship, can they still join the mentorship program?

Absolutely! However, before enrollment in our mentorship program, we will check if there are still seats available for the competition. If there are, we are committed to supporting your child's success through our mentorship program.


3. How is the Mentorship Program different from the Scholarship Program?

Both programs have the same goal: to prepare for the VEX IQ competition. In the Mentorship Program, students must form groups and apply as a team. They can compete under the name of Beyond Code Academy or their current school (for applications under Beyond Code Academy, the remaining quota for Beyond Code Academy must be checked again).
